Another Successful Night for Daddy
I'm happy to report that I went to Bunko (what a disaster that was, but that's another story) and when I returned Baby V was sleeping soundly in her crib and daddy was having a good old time working in his garage. :) He was boasting about how he could get her down better than I can, I suppose all it takes is one successful night to make you a pro - forget that I've put her down every other night of her life! I'm glad he has such confidence now though. I told him since he was so good it now he could take over from here. See what boasting will get ya?!!

I hate to sound like I'm bragging but.....
I know that every parent thinks that their child hung the moon, and so they should, I'm just inspired to write about our little one and how totally awesome I think she is! Virginia is really blossoming these past few weeks. She's 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days old now. She's always been such a good sleeper - sleeping 10-11 hours every night now, but has been sleeping through the night since she was about 3 weeks old. Also, she has a such a wonderful disposition - she's just generally a happy baby. Nothing warms your heart more than when she smiles back at you over nothing really, just because you smiled at her! She loves to grab at her toys now - the parrot on her activity mat was her favorite, but now she's favoring monkey. I switch them around to see if she has a hand preference, but thus far the jury is still out. She's getting better about spending time on her tummy and if you put your hands on her feet she'll really push off like she's ready to start to scootin' (but in reality I know that is quite a ways off). She's also a good traveler having been on the go for the past few weekends hasn't really seemed to phase her of get her off schedule. I'm so thankful that I have a child that is so adaptable.
Baby V is really and truly the perfect baby - at least in this mother's eyes! :)

Easter Weekend

What a wonderful weekend it has been! I LOVE 3 day weekends - I'm so thankful that Virginia's sitter takes off Good Friday - it "forces" me to have to take the day off and there's nothing I love more than spending time with my V. :) An added bonus, the weather was beautiful all weekend!!
Friday morning we went out to my office to visit with everyone. Virginia was SUCH a good girl, as always. Then we went to Southpoint Mall and ran some errands. Then we went over to her friend Rush Gidden's house for dinner. They were so cute together, Rush wanted V's passy. I've got pics, they're just on my camera downstairs so I'll have to post them tomorrow! Anyway, it was a fun night and so good to catch up with Julie and Grant.
Saturday the family made our first trip to Nana V and Grandpop McMellon's house in High Point. It was such a nice day! We went for a nice long walk down by the marina in front of their house and I noticed they have a really fun looking playground that I know V will enjoy playing in one day.
Virginia and I went to Edenton Street United Methodist Church on Sunday. We met Julie, Rush and her mother-in-law Sharon down there. I really enjoyed the service - I like to sing the hymns, it's much easier in a crowd! The kids were great. There was a little "incidence" with V's diaper, but we made it through! Let's just say we snuck out the back to the restroom, in "superman pose" in an effort to save the tights and the dress. After church we all went to Stonewood Tavern for lunch. YUM!

And finally, finally we've relaxed this afternoon. Jim has done quite a bit around the house and in the yard, so it's been a successful day! And just overall a really memorable first Easter for Miss V. :)

Daddy's second shot at babysitting
Last night my friend Kristen hosted a birthday party for our friend Julie - we had a blast! It's been a while since I've been out with the girls without Daddy or Baby V. At one point we were singing and dancing to the "Lite Rock" channel - I'm sure Kristen's husband thinks we're a bunch of freaks! I didn't realize he was sitting in his office behind us until after we'd been through a couple of songs. Lite Rock...come on!!! I can't even remember the song I was rockin' out, but I just remember it was from my freshman year in highschool.
Anyway, that's not what I came here to write about, I came to write about the improvement of Daddy's babysitting skills. The last time he watched Virginia (when I went to bunko), I came home and V was in the swing at 9:30. I probably went overboard, it wasn't the end of the world, but it did present a challenge to get her moved to her bed and back asleep that evening and let's just say I didn't want a repeat of that night! So this time I was prepared - I gave him guidelines of her bedtime rituals and I intentionally stayed out until 9:30 so that he would have plenty of time to get her down and settled before I got home. I want him to succeed you see, and if I'm there I would just butt in and that's really not helping Daddy now is it?
I'm happy to report that I came home and this time she was in her crib fast asleep! Good work Daddy!!!

Virginia's first photo shoot

Her photo shoot at Neil Boyd Photography was actually about a month ago (Feb 22nd), but I'm just getting to post about it since I didn't have this blog started until two nights ago. Thanks to my sister-in-law Caryn who has shown me the in's and out's of blogging!
I'm totally surprised that we were able to get any shots at all - Miss V was not a happy camper that day, but I guess when you take 1000 pictures you're bound to get a few good ones! I'll post some of my favorites.

Virginia's Christening

What a special day March 16th was! Our little baby girl was Christened at First United Methodist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Many family members and friends were there to witness and celebrate with us afterwards at Ralph's BBQ (YUM!!!).
Her Grandmother Woodruff bought her the prettiest dress - and boy, did little Virginia Grace wear it well! Not only was she beautiful, but she was also so well behaved. She didn't fuss one bit during the entire hour in church. I was also proud of her friend Rush Giddens! He was a good little boy too! :)
